What services does Studio Alethea Productions offer?
Studio Alethea is a fully-equipped music composition and post-production suite. We specialize in film scores and television music, but we also have experience in music for lyrics, songwriting, soundscaping, musical theater, webcasts, jingles, and more...
What are the rates like?
Composition fees are calculated based on two primary criteria: 1) Instrumentation of composition and 2) Length of final product (in minutes). All budgets are considered and should submit their project for consideration.
What is included in the package fee?
Studio Alethea Productions quotes a "package fee," which includes everything involved in the conception, recording, mixing, and producing of the composition at Studio Alethea by the composer Nathan M. Schilz.
Who performs on the recording?
The composer himself is a multi-instrumentalist, having studied voice, guitar, drums, piano, baritone, and oboe. It is possible to bring in session performers, but these must be arranged by the client, and are subject to studio fees of $25 an hour during recording.
In what form is the final product?
The master copy of the work will be delivered in .WAV format on either a CD-R or DVD-R (depending on the demands of the project). Physical media is included in the package price as well as any standard postage incurred during the project. Special requests may be subject to additional charges and/or studio time charges (e.g. additional CDs/ DCDs, flash drives, Pro Tools session files, additional audio files).
Does Studio Alethea offer mastering services?
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer mastering services; these should be contracted out after production.
How will I know the project is to my liking?
Throughout the composition and mixing process, the composer will periodically post sample audio files (MP3s) for review on your personal FTP site. This ensures that the entire creative process is always a collaboration.
Is it possible to collaborate over the internet?
It is very possible to collaborate over the worldwide web-- in fact, the majority of our clients are not local to Minneapolis. Contracts can be handled through the mail or by fax, e-mail and phone provide communication, audio is still sampled via FTP sites, final audio CDs are mailed, and payments are sent by PayPal.
How do I pay?
Studio Alethea Productions accepts cash, money order, and PayPal (for checking accounts and credit cards).
When do I pay?
Upon the signing of the contract, a deposit is due for 1/2 the agreed upon amount. The remaining balance is then due at the time the final product is delivered.
Who retains the copyright of the production?
The copyright owner is determined per the terms of the contract agreement. It is dependent on the project and the initial package fee. Typically the composer retains the copyright in lower budget productions where royalties are not applicable. The composer is registered with ASCAP as both writer and publisher.
